FRESH-CUT CHRISTMAS TREES
Fraser Fir
Balsam Fir
Canaan Fir
Our most popular tree. Dark green needles on top, silver on the underside. Sturdy branches that will hold any ornament. Excellent needle retention and fresh cut smell.
Our most fragrant tree. Dark green needles 1/2" - 1 1/2." Branches are layered and support ornaments. Good needle retention and fragrant aroma.
Relatively new variety of tree - kind of a cross between a Fraser and a Balsam. Dark green needles 1" long. Needle retention very good and has the fragrance of a Balsam Fir.
White Pine
Soft dark green needles 2 1/2 - 5" with very straight trunk. Best if you are only hanging lights and lightweight ornaments. Excellent needle retention with a mild pine fragrance.
Scotch Pine
Bushy, full tree with dense, stiff, medium-length needles 1". Traditional, natural look. Excellent needle retention with very little fragrance.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
At Big John's, we provide a fresh cut on the bottom of your purchased tree. This provides not only a flat surface to attach your tree stand, but also opens up the cells in the tree trunk so that it may take water more efficiently (a sap plug will form on the area where the tree was cut after a couple hours - so it is best to get your tree in its stand and watered within an hour or two after the fresh cut has been applied. Alternatively, if you are not going to stand your tree up until the next day, simply put your tree in a bucket of water over night.)

Keep your tree watered when in the stand as it will drink a lot of water the first few days - sometimes as much as a pint or two per day.
